TIEMH Employee Spotlight: Sarah Stephens

As part of our monthly series, we’ll introduce team members from the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH). You’ll learn more about their interests, the projects they work on at TIEMH, and more.

This month, the spotlight is on Sarah Stephens (she/her). Sarah graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Public Relations. For the past seven years, she has worn many hats in the digital marketing and communications space, and her experience includes content marketing, social media, photography, and community outreach.

Let’s dive into Sarah’s interview:

What projects do you work on?

I work on the Texas Behavioral Health and Justice Technical Assistance Center project and also help with the communications needs at the Institute.

What’s your official job title?

I’m a Communications Specialist.

What do you enjoy about working at TIEMH?

I love contributing to meaningful work that supports mental health services. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that what you’re doing is making an impact and helping others. I’m also incredibly grateful to work with such kind, supportive, and wonderful people who are so knowledgeable and dedicated to making a difference.

What are you currently reading, watching, or listening to?

I’m finishing up Ketanji Brown Jackson’s memoir, “Lovely One.” It’s been an incredibly inspiring and enjoyable read.

There’s a show called “In with the Old” that I find fascinating. It documents the process of homeowners restoring their historic homes. I’m also watching football games.

What’s one fall-themed activity on your bucket list this year?

With cooler weather approaching, I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors. Even though we’re in Texas, there are moments when you can catch a glimpse of the fall foliage. I really enjoy seeing all the fall colors and would like to visit some of the state parks to soak in the beauty. I also want to try some fall-themed treats.

Thanks for sharing, Sarah!

  1. Very interesting bio (brief as it is). Love the Autumn (Fall) plan to spend time visiting the Texas State Parks in all their beautiful foliage. A little hiking is great for clearing the mind and restoring positive thoughts. Congratulations on being honored with the “employee spotlight “. Thank you for your work.
