Irma Torres-Catanach, PhD, LPC

Senior Project Manager

Irma Torres-Catanach, PhD, LPC, is a Senior Project Manager at the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH) at the University of Texas at Austin, working on a state initiative that supports the implementation of infant and early childhood mental health consultation (IECMHC) within community-based organizations in counties affected by natural disasters. She brings over a decade of direct clinical experience in perinatal, infant, and early childhood mental health, including trauma-informed, relationship-based work with young children, families, and community providers.  Most recently, she worked as a Military and Family Life Counselor where she provided infant and early childhood mental health consultation at a child development center serving children of active-duty service members and veterans. She also spent six years coordinating federally funded, multi-site research and evaluation programs at the University of Texas at El Paso, managing work plans and reporting across NSF- and U.S. Department of Education-funded initiatives spanning five institutions. She holds a PhD in InterdisciplinaryHealth Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso, a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and is a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in New Mexico.  In her free time, Irma enjoys spending time with her family and friends and looking up new places to travel.
