EVENT RECAP: TIEMH Co-Hosts Strong Schools Summit to Discuss School Mental Health Collaborations

The event featured two comprehensive panels with eight different examples of school mental health collaborations, including those between schools and the state government, public universities, and nonprofits.

The Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health joined forces with a plethora of other organizations to put on the 4th Annual Strong Schools Summit — a pre-conference event for the 2019 Conference on Advancing School Mental Health.

The event included remarks from the Texas Education Agency, keynotes from President and Senior Scientist at the PAXIS Institute Dennis D. Embry and from Youth Speaker Evan Transue, and featured two panels — “Building Strong Schools through Direct Care on Campus,” and “Building Strong Schools through District Collaborations.”

The conference was sponsored by the South Southwest MHTTC, the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Council of Community Centers, St. David’s Foundation, the Texas State School Safety Center, and the Texas Education Agency/AWARE.
