TIEMH Employee Spotlight: Amy Schryver

As part of our new monthly series, we’ll be introducing team members from the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH). You’ll learn more about their interests, the projects they work on at TIEMH, and more.

This month, the spotlight is on Amy Schryver. Amy earned a Master’s degree in Health and Kinesiology with a focus on Community Health from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Before joining TIEMH, she worked for the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency, where she developed, implemented, and managed health promotion programs across the Air Force.

Her work emphasized nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and tobacco-free living. Amy is passionate about health and wellness as a holistic approach and strives to make a positive impact in the community.

Let’s dive into Amy’s interview:

1) What projects do you work on?

I work on the Innovative Healing Centered Project (IHCP).

2) What’s your official job title?

Project Manager of IHCP.

3) What do you enjoy about working at TIEMH?

I enjoy connecting with the IHCP communities I manage, I enjoy the friendliness and openness of other TIEMH staff when we meet in person, and being with TIEMH almost two years I feel supported and seen in the work I do and as a person which makes for a healthy work environment.

4) What are you currently reading, watching or listening to?

Lately, I’ve been really into reading historical fiction. I just finished reading “The Diamond Eye” by Kate Quinn, and I’m about to start reading “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.

5) If you could write a Valentine’s card to your younger self, what would it say?

I DONUT know what I’d do without a friend like you! (including a chocolate covered Bavarian filled donut)
